Anna Lee Douglass, 88, of Leon passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at C.A.M.C. General Hospital in Charleston. She was a 1943 graduate of Point Pleasant High School and a member of the First Baptist Church of Leon. She was co-owner of the Douglass Farm, Leon, and took great pride in her family, home, and farm. Mrs. Douglass was named the First Lady of Agriculture in the State of West Virginia in 2012. She was a 60 year plus member and past President of the Mason County Community Educational Outreach Service. She served as Chairperson of the Mason County CEOS 4-H Senior Award Committee, and in addition was a 4-H All-Star. She enjoyed spending time working in her garden and canning, and loved all kinds of flowers. Most of all, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and will be sadly missed by family and friends.

Born in Mason County, she was the daughter of the late Alonzo Peter Roush and Cora Stewart Roush. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, John Meeks.

Survivors include her loving husband of 66 years and former Commissioner of Agriculture for the State of West Virginia, Gus R. Douglass; her children, Mary Lee (Dale) Wolfe of Leon, Steve (Kathy) Douglass of West Monroe, LA, Tom (Judi) Douglass of Leon, and Cindy Wainscott of Franklin, OH; her sister, Eleanor Lewis of Dunbar; her grandchildren, Julie Bumgarner, Jason Meeks, Adam Douglass, Annie Broussard, Andy Douglass, and Kyle Wainscott; 10 great-grandchildren, 3 nieces, and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Mason County CEOS 4-H Senior Award, c/o April Pyles – Treasurer, 167 McGuffin Lane, Gallipolis Ferry, WV 25515; or to the Craig-Douglass Cemetery Fund, 29605 Charleston Road, Leon, WV 25123.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of C.A.M.C. General, especially the third floor M.I.C.U. staff, for their kind and professional care.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 19, 2014 at Raynes Funeral Home Eleanor Chapel with Pastor Fred Sparks officiating. Burial will follow in Craig-Douglass Cemetery, Leon. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., and from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Saturday at the Eleanor Chapel.
