Maya An­gelou once said, “People will for­get what you said, peo­ple will for­get what you did, but peo­ple will never for­get how you made them feel.”
Ash­ley lived that out to the full­est. She was born on Au­gust 10, 1989, in John­son City, Ten­nes­see, and im­me­di­ately brought a smile to the faces of her par­ents and sib­lings. Through­out school, she of­ten be­friended the new kids and the out­sid­ers. It was her kind and com­pas­sion­ate traits that would lead her to a ca­reer in nurs­ing at the John­son City Med­i­cal Center. Ash­ley’s co-work­ers re­mem­ber her beau­ti­ful and glow­ing smile and the at­ti­tude she brought to a job that of­ten had lows. Through her loyal friend­ship and ser­vant’s heart, she made any­one who knew her feel spe­cial and loved.
Ash­ley un­ex­pect­edly passed away at her home on March 16, 2015, at the age of 25.
She is sur­vived by her lov­ing hus­band, Evan Craw­ford, Jones­bor­ough; her mother and father, Rich­ard and Doro­thy Sluder; her sis­ter, Jenny Canter; and her brother, Ken­neth Fraze. She is also sur­vived by three neph­ews, Alex Melendez, Rich­ard Canter and Jami­son Walker; and one niece, Erica Nun­ley; Mother and Father-in-law, Stan­ley and Joyce Craw­ford; and sis­ter-in-law, Melissa Walker. Sev­eral aunts, un­cles and cous­ins also sur­vive.
Funeral Ser­vices will be con­ducted at 8 p.m. Fri­day in Me­mo­rial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bill Davis of­fi­ci­at­ing.
Grave­side Ser­vice and In­ter­ment will be at 11 a.m. Satur­day in the Em­mert Ceme­tery. Mu­sic will be pro­vided by Michelle Faust. Ac­tive Pall­bear­ers, who are re­quested to as­sem­ble at the fu­neral home at 10:30 a.m. Satur­day, will be: Alex Melendez, Rich­ard Canter, Daniel Rick­man, Jamie Sim­mons, Ja­son Sim­mons, Robert King, James Walker, Ma­lik Crate and Peter Essler. Honor­ary Pall­bear­ers will be the Staff & em­ployess of the John­son City Med­i­cal Center.
The fam­ily will re­ceive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Fri­day in the fu­neral home. Fam­ily and friends will as­sem­ble at the fu­neral home at 10:30 a.m. Satur­day to go to the cem­e­tery.
In lieu of flow­ers do­na­tions may be made to the fu­neral home.

For all those left be­hind to mourn the loss of Ash­ley, we need to honor the leg­acy that she spent the last 25 years cre­at­ing. She reached out to the lost and the least and spent ev­ery day treat­ing peo­ple with Christ-like love. As she stands be­fore the throne, there is no doubt that she is hear­ing “Well done, good and faith­ful ser­vant.”
