The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, at Mt. Zion AME Church with the Rev. Lee Williamson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family visitation begins at 12:30 p.m.
John was born in Guilford County on January 26, 1942. He was a self-employed general contractor for over 40 years.
He is survived by a loving wife, Mary Ann; children, Michael, Michelle, Carter (Michael), Todd (Pamela), and Shawn Donnell, all of Greensboro; devoted niece, Gwendolyn Donnell (Gary) of New York; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Queenie Bell.
