RATTERMAN FUNERAL HOME(S), LOUISVILLE, KY - OBITUARY - 03/18/2015 - DOYLE, LaVerne McKune, 97, died peacefully in the morning on March 18, 2015, at Nazareth Home in Louisville, Kentucky. She was an active member of St. Raphael the Archangel Parish since 1959, during which time she served as a Eucharistic Minister, a member of the Altar Society, and a long-time member of Catholic Golden Age. LaVerne volunteered with her friends, Helen Brewer (Eugene) both deceased, at Nazareth Home for more than 25 years, and made more than 35,000 rosaries for Rosary Makers. LaVerne was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Joseph P. Doyle; a daughter, Mary Agnes Doyle; a son, C. Daniel Doyle; grandsons, J. Andrew Doyle and Nicholas G. Schmitt; one brother, Fr. J. William McKune; and two sisters, Katherine Campbell and E. Marie McKune. She is survived by four sons, J. Patrick Doyle (Louise), Timothy E. Doyle, John W. Doyle (Terrye), and James M. Doyle; four daughters, Regina Hoffman (Randy), Mary Ann Doyle, Molly Schmitt (Nick), and Susan Doyle; 25 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; one sister, M. Rose Shade; one brother, J. Donald McKune (Ginger); and many godchildren, nieces, and nephews. LaVerne’s family wishes to thank the extended family, friends, and the loving staff of Nazareth Home, particularly the palliative care unit, for the care offered to their mother and the way her final requests were respected. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, March 21st at St. Raphael the Archangel Church, 2141 Lancashire Avenue, with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. on Friday, March 20, at Ratterman and Sons Funeral Home, 3800 Bardstown Road.
