Kelvin Edward Murphy, 76, passed away at Providence Medical Center on Jan. 14, 2015, after a lengthy illness.The memorial service will take place at 1 p.m. on Sat., Jan. 24 at Grace Bible Church with his brother-in-law, Reverend Gene Ragan officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park.He was born on July 25, 1938, in Glenrock, Wyo., and moved to Oregon in 1940.Kelvin was employed in the logging industry for over 40 years, including 31 years with Plumley Inc.On Dec. 6, 1958, he married Ruby Ragan, who survives.He enjoyed hunting, gardening, camping, and spending time with his grandchildren. He attended Grace Bible Church.Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Randy Murphy and Leslie Moon of Portland, Ore.; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Vince Lackey of Grants Pass; a daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Joel Fritzler of Flagstaff, Ariz.; three grandsons, Ryan, Ethan, and Hayden Lackey; two granddaughters, Meghan and Madelyn Lackey; four sisters, Emmalee Sharp, Judy Bennett, Kathleen Murphy and Patricia Linder; and brother, Dennis Murphy.He was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter.
