Eva J. Maxwell, 95, of Marshall, died Friday, May 5, 2006, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 8, at First Baptist Church in Melbourne. Rev. Ronald P. Smith officiated. Pianist Lela Hughs accompanied Bill Orndorf as he sang "Blessed Assurance" and the congregation as they sang "Sweet Bye and Bye." Pallbearers were Richard Cotton, Corie Cutsinger, Jerry Hughs, Marlon Hughs, Clarles Lowe and Bill Orndorf. Honorary pallbearers were Jim Alden, Paul Alden and Garland King. Burial was in Mitchell Cemetery in Melbourne. Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church of Melbourne or Mitchell Cemetery in care of Sweeney-Reser-Wills Funeral Home in Marshall. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Sweeney-Reser-Wills Funeral Home.Born May 5, 1911, at Brimson, she was the daughter of the late Thomas A. Brown and Dora M. Gardner Brown. On May 7, 1940, at Gilman City, she married Leland A. Maxwell, who preceded her in death June 10, 1994. She had been a resident of Marshall since 1942 and had been employed as a teacher at the Marshall Habilitation Center for 25 years. She and her husband owned and operated Maxwell Plumbing and Heating for many years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Melbourne.Survivors include one daughter, Marsha J. Williams of Marshall; one brother, Thomas V. Brown of Trenton; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters and one sister.
