Sgt Donald J Crighton of Hollow Hill Farms, Convent, New Jersey served in the 318th Field Hospital, 305th Sanitary Train, 80th Division in France during WWI.
He enlisted on June 5, 1917, in Army and was discharged in June, 9, 1919, when his unit was decommissioned. He departed Newport News, Virginia on board the ship Mercury on May 25, 1918 for France in WWI with the 318th Field Hospital and returned with them on board the ship Rottedam on May 20, 1919 from Brest, France arriving in Hoboken, New Jersey on May 31, 1919. During these transits he listed his sister, Mrs. Mary Menteith, at 14 Webster Street, Newport, Rhode Island as a contact.

D. CRIGHTON. SR. Died Suddenly At His Home. Convent-Donald J. Crighton, Sr., 59 estate manager of the Paul Moore estate in Convent for 30 years, and a well-known horticulturist in this area, died suddenly yesterday, September 10, 1953 at his home on Woodland Avenue. He suffered a heart attack.

Born in England, May 14, 1894, he had resided in this country most of his life and was associated with the Moore estate at the time of his death.

Active in flower growers groups in this county, state and nationally, he was past president of the Morris County Gardeners & Florists Association and past president of the National Association of Gardeners.

He was also was an active member of the Watnong Garden Club, the New Jersey Florists Association, Newark, and the Horticultural Society of New York and the Morris County Beekeeper Association.

He was a member and former trustee and elder of the Presbyterian Church of Morristown.

His hobby was flower photography and he was a member of the Madison Chatham Camera Club.

Survivors are his widow Dorothy Beattie Crighton; two children, Donald J. Crighton, Jr. of Far Hills and Miss Jean Crighton at home; two grandchildren; a brother Charles Crighton of Edinburg, Scotland and a sister, Mrs. Robert Montieth of Newport, R.I..

Funeral services will be held at the Chapel of the Presbyterian Church, Morristown on Saturday morning at 11 o'clock. Interment will be in Restland Memorial Park Hanover.
