Jimmy Edwin Rowe, born Longview, TX to Lucy Gross and Leonard Rowe. He graduated from Longview High School as Salutatorian of his class. He moved to Port Arthur, TX in 1943 to work in the Federal Defense plant to earn money for college. He met Betty Ruth James, love of his life. He went to Prairie View University and graduated with honors in Business Administration and Tailoring.
Jimmy and Betty married in 1944, and to this union 8 children were born. The marriage lasted 70 1/2 years until his death. He was an instructor of tailoring at various vocational schools in Texas before moving to Oakland, CA in 1951 where he opened a thriving tailoring business on Broadway. Also, he worked at Alameda Naval Air installation as an instructor and manager of production dispatching.
He leaves behind his wife, Betty, 8 children, a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jimmy will always be remembered and loved.
