her family and friends, lived the last 15 years of her life with her beloved niece Maria Velarde, who acted as her devoted,loyal,and loving caregiver in South San Francisco, CA.Emily was born on July 7,1916 in Bland, NM attending school in Madrid, NM until she graduated from high school. Emily worked in a munitions factory at the start of WWII. She enlisted in the Army, from 1944 till the end of the war in 1945, as a cook. She was an exceptional basketball player during her time in the Army and was given the nickname"The Terror of the Basket" by the newspaper Stars and Stripes. She belonged to the Assembly of God Church in Oroville. Emily's character is defined as, exceptionally wellmannered with high morals and integrity, deep respect for others, extremely patient and trustworthy. She will be sadly missed by many.
Her Family… Preceded in death by her husband of 25 years Grover "Bill" Williams,parents Jose and Manuela Martinez, sister Refugio Martinez Lazoya, brothers Isidro,
Augustine, Salvador, Mike, and Jose Martinez Jr, and her faithful dog Spotty. She is survived by her brothers Antonio Martinez (Antonia) of Milpitas, CA, Juan Martinez of El Paso, TX, and also of El Paso sister Manuela Martinez. She also leaves behind many, many,many nieces and nephews whom she doted on as if they were her own children.
Her Farewell Service… Begins with a visitation at Oroville Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 from 12:30 ~ 1:30 followed with a Graveside Burial Ceremony at 2:00 pm with Honors presented by the U.S. Army Honor Guard from Sacramento,California.Arrangements are entrusted to Oroville Funeral Home (530) 533-0323
