The native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County was a retired truck driver. Franklin worked in the construction industry for Williams Construction and as a truck driver for many years, last employed with Lloyd Hendley Trucking Company. He was a former volunteer fireman with the Leefield Volunteer Fire Department. Franklin loved to fish and hunt. Most of all, he loved people. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather.
Mr. Hendrix was preceded in death by his son, Mitchell Hendrix; his father, Leonard Hendrix; a nephew, Jerry Littleton; and his grandparents. Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Donna Knight Hendrix of Statesboro; a daughter and son-in-law, Tia and Stephen Woodrow of Brooklet; a granddaughter, Ariana Woodrow of Brooklet; his mother, Mary Barrs Hendrix of Leefield; a brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Joan Hendrix of Statesboro; a sister, Sandra Lynn Littleton of Leefield; a sister-in-law, Susan Poppell of Brunswick; and a brother-in-law, Roy Knight of Brunswick. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro. The graveside service and burial will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Hendrix Family Cemetery with the Rev. Doug McCart officiating.
Pallbearers will be Chris Littleton, Robbie O'Neal, Will Terrell, Ryan Newman, Jr. Martin, Ken Herman, Ronnie Hendrix and Robert Pierce. Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home of Statesboro is in charge of the arrangements.
