Born September 4, 1943 in Rutherford County, he was a son of the late Ralph Forrest Harris and Annie Lee Crotts Harris. Dan served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era and worked for Mastercraft and Cone Jacquard as a supervisor for many years. He was a member of Harris First Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing, camping, woodworking, farming and raising animals. Dan was a man who made the most out of life's hardships and never made excuses. He was a honest hardworking man who loved his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by twin infant daughters, Tina and Tracy Harris; four half-brothers, Joe, Rupert, Michael and Herrin Callahan.
Survivors include his wife of fifty years, Linda Harris; two sons, Dan Harris, Jr. and wife, Lori of Bostic and David Harris and wife, Melanie of Forest City; two sisters, Margaret Morrison and husband, Yates of Bostic and Jane Campfield and husband, Jerry of Forest City; one brother, Don Harris also of Forest City; mother-in-law, Dessie Hopper of Forest City. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Alex Harris, Lauren Harris, Adam Harris and wife, Harley and Taylor Harris.
A memorial graveside service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.
