Cassandra L. Smith, 27, of Fairhaven, passed away unexpectedly at home, Wednesday, November 20, 2013.

She was the daughter of Lori A. (Buckles) McLeod and her husband Jack of Fairhaven and Christopher Smith of Boston.

Cassandra was born in New Bedford and lived most of her life in Fairhaven. She was a 2004 graduate of Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational High School and had worked as PCA, personal care assistant. She attended the Long Plain Baptist Church, loved the outdoors, spending time with family and friends, especially her son, and enjoyed making people laugh with the practical jokes she would play on people.

Beside her parents survivors include her grandparents, James and Jeannine Buckles of Wareham, Pauline Smith of Acushnet and Rita McLeod of Fairhaven; her son, Mason DeMello and his father, John DeMello, Jr. both of Mattapoisett; her companion, David Frysinger of New Bedford; three sisters, Joycelyn Smith of Dartmouth, Alexandra Martin-Smith and Sadie-Lynn McLeod both of Fairhaven; a brother Christopher Smith, Jr. of Boston and a step brother, John McLeod, Jr. of Fairhaven.

Calling hours are Friday, November 29, 2013, from 9-11am, in the Fairhaven Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Fairhaven with a funeral service at 11:00am in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Center Cemetery in Rochester.
