MANSFIELD: LINDA (MILTEER) BRIGGS, 60, passed this life on Sunday, March 15, 2015 in her parent's home after a brief illness.

Ms. Briggs was born on Thursday, August 26, 1954 to Esther and Ivy (Huffman) Briggs in Andalusia, Alabama coming to Mansfield as an infant. Linda was a member of the 1972 graduating class of Malabar High School, she continued to pursue her education, receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1976 from Fisk University, Nashville, Tennessee, Master of Theology Degree from Duke University, Durham, North Carolina and was presently studying for her Doctorate Degree in Biblical Psychology, at the Omega Bible Institute, Swartz, Louisianna.

Linda was employed with the State of Ohio for 23 years working her way up in the correctional system at numerous locations, Mohican Juvenile Correctional Facility, MANCI, RICI, Grafton and presently Lorain Correctional Institute where she was the Administrative Assistant to the Warden and the Public Information Officer. She was also an entrepreneur, a thriving handbag business she was known for her purses and accessories.

Linda was involved in her church and community. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Willard Mansfield Campus where she became a Minister delivering her trial sermon, June 8, 2014 and joined the ministerial staff. Linda was also a very active former member of the Mt. Hermon Baptist Church. In the community Linda was an active member of the NAACP as past treasurer, current branch secretary, and Silver Life Member, NABCJ Mansfield Affiliate serving as treasurer, Women in Corrections chairperson, Culliver Reading Center, and the Road Runners Motorcycle Club.

In addition to her parents Linda is also survived by her son, Jamison (Shitika) Milteer; three grandsons; two brothers, Larry (Pamela) Briggs, and Elder Link (Michelle) Briggs; uncle, Leslie (Gloria) Huffman, all of Mansfield; aunt, Lillie Biggs, Daphne, Alabama; Goddaughter, Monica Lindsay-Hammock and her children; best friends, Lyneal Wainwright, Mansfield, Marcia Webb and Sallie Glover, Cleveland.

The Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, 11:00 a.m. in the Mt. Hermon Baptist Church with her Pastor Jeffrey Jones officiating and her brother Elder Link Briggs, Sr. delivering the eulogy. Friends may call Thursday 2 p.m. in the Ruth Anna Lee Williams Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Services where the family will be present from 6-8 p.m. Interment will be in Mansfield Cemetery.

The family will also receive friends at the home of Linda's parents at 472 Fairoaks Blvd. daily from 3-6 p.m.
