Marie was born April 3, 1962 in Monroe, NC, the fourth child (second daughter) of the late Joe Donald Courtney, Jr. and Billie Mullis Courtney. She attended schools in Pageland, South Carolina and was a 1980 graduate of Central High School. She was a retired Professional Photographer who specialized in family and children’s portraits. She had a talent for eliciting and capturing children’s best expressions. She worked in several photography studios and also traveled with Olan Mills Portraits.
Marie enjoyed taking pictures and making crafts. One of her catch phrases was , “Who loves ya, Baby?” From the television program “Kojak” starring Telly Savalis as Kojak.
She had a playful sense of humor and would often ask, “What would I do without you?” Then answer, “Starve to death in a grocery store!”

Marie has one son, Colby Joseph Courtney.
Marie was married to Christopher Wayne “Chris” Rape from May 17, 2003 until her death on March 10, 2012.
In addition to her parents, Marie was also preceded in death by a brother, Phillip Courtney.
