Randall Dean (Randy) Blake

Randall Dean Blake, "Randy," passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on March 10th, 2015 at Lynchburg General Hospital. Randy was born on May 2nd, 1956 in Jeanette, PA, the firstborn son of Walter E. Blake, Jr. and Kathryn Blake. His family moved to Pensacola when Randy was 14. Randy graduated from Woodham High School in 1974 and attended the University of West Florida, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Communications. Randy married Cathy Barnes on June 6, 1981, and they celebrated the birth of their only child, Brandon, in 1986. Randy had a long, distinguished career in television advertising sales management and worked most recently as the Local/Regional Sales Manager at WSET TV in Lynchburg, Virginia. Randy also taught advertising classes as an adjunct professor at Liberty University. Randy began his career with WEAR TV in the late 70's and remained there until 1996. During his career, he served as the Governor of the American Advertising Federation's Fourth District and was a Paul Harris Fellow with Rotary International. He was a devoted husband, very proud father and loyal friend to many. Randy loved his work, enjoyed golf, and was an avid Florida Gators fan. He was a member of Heritage Baptist Church, Lynchburg, VA.

Randy is survived by his wife of 34 years, Cathy; their son, Brandon Blake, of Tampa, FL; his mother, Kathryn Blake; and brothers, Ronald (Becky) and Richard Blake, of Pensacola; Mother in Law, Betty Barnes of Pensacola; Sisters in Law, Cindy Hinote and Trish Foxworth of Pensacola; Brothers in Law, Ken Barnes (Shelby) of Spanish Fort, AL, and Tommy Barnes of Pensacola. Randy is preceded in death by his father, Walter Ellsworth Blake, Jr.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 11:30 A.M. at St. Luke United Methodist Church on Nine Mile Road in Pensacola. Visitation will be held prior to the service at 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Randy's name to Lynchburg Morning Rotary (PO Box 3381, Lynchburg, VA 24503), or to Heritage Baptist Church (219 Breezewood Drive, Lynchburg, VA).
