Funeral Services were Saturday, Feb. 9, at Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Albany, for Irene Fiedler, age 83, who died Tuesday, Feb. 5, at the Mother of Mercy Nursing Home, Albany. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
Irene was born on January 6, 1919 in Foley to Joseph and Helen (Bardonski) Walkowiak. She married Casper Fiedler, Sr. on November 17, 1936 in Mayhew Lake. She farmed with her husband in Sauk Centre and was a homemaker all of her life. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella Pioneer Club, and Seven Dolors Catholic Church.
Irene is survived by her children, Arlene (Don) Messerich of Melrose, Mickey (Norb) Wessrl of Sauk Centre, Janice (Bob) Derichs of Melrose, Casper Jr (Dorinda) of Waite Park, Connie Fiedler of St. Cloud, Melvin (Tillie) of Albany, Bernice Akervik of St. Wendel, Buster (Cindy) of Albany, Bill of Albany Allen (Jackie) of Albany and Helen (Leroy) Frericks of Melrose; 37 Grandchildren; 38 Great-grandchildren; and sisters, Josephine Rubenik and Dorothy Simonet.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Casper, Sr. in 1987; grandson, Marvin; daughter, Virginia; grandson, Marvin Wessel; and sister, Annie Dray.
