During the 50 years of their marriage they lived in Las Vegas, NV, Corona, CA, Valley Center, CA, and Santa Clara, UT. They returned to Hurricane, UT in Aug. 2001 to take care of Marilyn's aging mother until her passing. Marilyn was always very active in the LDS Church, serving as Young Women's Pres., Relief Society Pres., Primary Pres., Stake & Ward Camp Directors and many other teaching and counselor assignments. Her favorite calling was working with the achievement day girls which she did on at least four different occasions.
In high school she participated in numerous dramas, played clarinet in the high school band, was a Tigerette for two years, and was a member of the debate team and the Future Homemakers of America. She participated on several church and community softball and volleyball teams, played on the Las Vegas Women's Softball championship team for three years, and was a league bowler for 25 consecutive years. She was active in many community and service groups including the Daughter's of Utah Pioneers, book and pinochle clubs, and served as president of the Buenas Amigas Club for two years.
She was an avid homemaker who always placed her family's wants and needs above her own desires. She showed a large interest in her children's talents and hobbies, attending thousands of sporting, musical, theatrical, and other various events. Her talents and abilities as a seamstress are legend. She designed and made her own wedding dress at age sixteen, and created hundreds of dresses, cross stitch artistry, quilts and other treasures for her family that will become beautiful memories and heirlooms to her posterity.
She is survived by her lifelong sweetheart Floyd, her siblings Deanna Langston of St. George, UT; Albert Langston of Cheyenne, WY; and Brent Langston of Ferron, UT, her loving children David (Kendra) of Valley Center, CA; Michael (Michele) of Pueblo West, CO; Daren (Ann) of Fort Collins, CO; Richard of Hurricane, UT; Robert (Melinda) of Mountain Home, ID; Lori (Bret) of St. George, UT, sixteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Viewings will be held at the old Hurricane South Ward building located at the corner of 300 South and 100 West in Hurricane on Sunday, August 9, 2009 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Monday, August 10, 2009, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Funeral services will be held at the same address on Monday, August 10, 2009 at 11:00 AM. Internment services will be held at the Hurricane City Cemetery under the direction of McMillan Mortuary.
