He was born on February 8, 1954, in Norfolk, Virginia, the son of John and June (Freund) Myers.
He was a former quarry foreman with Bybee Stone Co. in Ellettsville and a current carpenter with Blackwell Construction Co. in Bloomington.
Bert was a graduate of Bloomington High School South, where he was a State Championship wrestler in the heavyweight division. He was to be inducted in the IHSAA Wrestling Hall of Fame this coming February.
Above all things, Bert was a loving husband, father and “Papaw” to his family.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon (Crass) Myers of Spencer.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister in infancy.
Burial will be at Valhalla Memory Gardens.
