George Ancil Cadle, age 66, Middlesboro, KY passed away Sunday, March 15, 2015 at his home. He was born on May 9, 1948 in Middlesboro, KY to Shereriva Cadle and the late Ancil Henry Cadle.


Survivors include his mother, Shereriva Cadle Tribell of Middlesboro; sister, Shereriva "Sissy" Cadle Strunk; niece, Tiffany Strunk; nephew, Paul Strunk, all of Pascagoula, MS; aunt, Millie Jane Harris; uncle, Bill Harris and cousin, Susan Harris White and many Cardwell and Cadle cousins.

George graduated from Middlesboro High School and his beloved University of Tennessee. He was Kentucky amateur champion in 1966, 1967 and 1969. He held the course record at Middlesboro Country Club over 40 years. He joined the PGA Tour in 1974 making over 150 cuts. George completed 17 years on the PGA Tour where he won the Bing Crosby Pro-Am in 1980 and 81 and posted 19 additional PGA Tour Top 10 finishes. George was inducted to the KY Hall of Fame in 2010, Kentucky's home to it greatest players and contributors.


Graveside service will be 1 p.m., Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Shoffner Cemetery in Shawnee, TN. With Garry Bingham Officiating. Pallbearers will be Bill Harris, Larry Cadle, Bill Cardwell, James Carl Shumate, Joe and Curt Sams, Tommy Barton, Davie Davis, John O'Boyle, and Jerry Shoffner. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Middlesboro High School Golf Team, 4404 West Cumberland Ave., Middlesboro, KY 40965.
