Leona Jean Jakob Anderson, 90, of Breckenridge, Texas passed away on March 14, 2015.

Jean was born November 16, 1924 in Dallas, Texas, the only daughter of the late Fred Crayton Jakob and Leona Hortense Sapp. She attended Highland Park High School where she met the love of her life and future husband, Bob Anderson. Jean attended Texas State College for Women (TWU).

She married Bob Anderson on February 10, 1945 in Kinston, North Carolina, while he was serving in the Marine Corps. They lived in Dallas, TX for many years where they welcomed their three children, Cathy, Becky, and Bobby. In 1957, their family moved to Breckenridge, TX after Bob finished law school. Jean’s numerous careers include working in the business office at SMU, teaching art in a private school, teaching ballroom dancing to adults, teenagers and deaf children, radio announcing, nursing, physical therapy at the Abilene Rehab Center, and opening her own boutique called Jean’s Selections.

Jean loved the Lord and was an active member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church. She served her community in a variety of ways. She was President of the Woman’s Forum twice, President of the Garden Club, Art Center Docent, party planner for teens at the church, and volunteer at the hospital gift shop, Bargain Box, and nursing home. She became an avid sports fan in support of Bob’s love of many teams including the Buckaroos, Cowboys and Mavericks. Jean and Bob have traveled to amazing places all over the world including 18 different countries. Many memories were made with family and friends at Possum Kingdom Lake and at their vacation home in Ruidoso, New Mexico. Gardening, throwing parties, shopping, decorating, socializing, playing bridge, dancing, and painting were some of her many hobbies. She has been described as jazzy, life of the party, fun-loving, stylish, energetic, young at heart, positive, risk taker, fancy, generous, good listener, social, loyal, and loving.

For the past four years, Jean has resided at The Conservatory Senior Living in Plano, TX where she has made wonderful friends and memories. Being a social butterfly, Jean organized the Bridge Club, birthday celebrations, and dress up parties. She frequently attended Bible studies.

She is survived by her daughters, Cathy Taylor and Becky Bailey, of Plano, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Paula Anderson, of Breckenridge, TX; grandchildren, Brian and Jill Reagan, of McKinney, TX; Dusty and Kari Anderson of Aledo, TX; Derrick and Courtney Anderson of Frisco, TX; Paul and Kelly Rutherford of Plano, TX; Dan and Ashley Jackson of Frisco, TX; Brent Bailey of Dallas, TX and eleven great grandchildren, Austin, Natalie, Cole, Darby, Cooper, Camryn, Cade, Dane, Everett, Lainey, and Emrie Jean. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bob, of 65 years, and her son-in-law, Phil Bailey. Jean wants her family to always remember to love one another as God loves us, learn to forgive, not to look for mistakes but look for the good in others in all situations. God is good! Jean was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many. We will miss her dearly until we meet again!
