Steven Paul Van Horn, 50, passed away March 15, 2015. He was a 25-year cancer survivor and struggled with serious health complications all the years thereafter. Steven was born to Gary R. and Gloria R. Angell Van Horn in Granger, Utah on October 22, 1964. He loves his Savior and the gospel, music, playing guitar, and loving life. He served an LDS Mission in Hokkaido/Sappora Japan.

Steven went to the University of Utah until his illness, majoring in English Literature. He loved to write amazing stories. He had a great sense of humor and people loved him at the Mission Community Care Center in Centerfield where he was taken care of in his last years.

He grew up in Granger and South Jordan before moving to Sterling. He received an Associate’s degree from Snow College. He married the love of his life, Mindy Lee Christensen Mellor in the Manti Temple on October 11, 2001. He became an immediate step-father to Mindy’s five children.

He is survived by his wife, Mindy; parents, Gary and Gloria, of Sterling; step-children: Kristen (David) Sohm, Salt Lake City; Michelle Mellor, Salt Lake City; Randall (Tessa) Mellor, Lewiston; Caleb (Lindsay) Mellor, Logan; and Charee (Michael) Ballif, Logan; eight step-grandchildren; siblings, Dawn Lakes, Grantsville; Kevin Van Horn, Pleasant Grove; Emma Van Horn, Orem; Valerie (Brent) Opoulos, Sterling; Michelle Jones, Boise, ID; Craig Jones, Buhl, ID; Guy (Victoria) Van Horn, Springville; Susan (Philip) Chapa, Eugene, OR.; Julie (Brett) Wilson, Star, ID; and many nieces and nephews and aunts and uncles.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Manti City Cemetery. Friends may call at the Magleby Mortuary, 100 N. 195 W. in Manti on Tuesday, from 6-8 p.m. and March 18 from 9-10:30 a.m. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
