A native of Alamance County, he was the son of Garland Barber Jr. and Peggy Neal Barber, both deceased. He enjoyed the University of North Carolina Tarheels.
Survivors include a sister, Susan Barber Bright of Aventura, Fla. and a brother, Danny Barber of Haw River.
The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Thursday, October 29, 2009 at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Ronnie Byrd with the family receiving friends from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be private.
