Charlotte E. Day, long time Ilion resident, passed away March 11, 2015, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. Charlotte was born January 22, 1928, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, daughter of Arnold T. and Nora (White) Edwards. She was raised in Chadwicks, was a graduate of Chadwicks High School and St. Elizabeth School of Nursing "Class of 1950". Charlotte was a licensed Registered Nurse for many years, working in Utica, Schenectady and Ilion. She later joined her husband, Jack, as bookkeeper at Day and Day Insurance Agency in Ilion. Charlotte was united in marriage to John J. "Jack" Day on July 18, 1953, at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Chadwicks, a blessed union of 40 years until Jack's passing on June 21, 1993. She was a parishioner at the Church of the Annunciation, a member of the K of C Ladies Auxiliary and the St. Elizabeth Hospital Alumni Assoc. Charlotte was an avid sports fan, often seen at various high school sporting events, and was a Syracuse University Football and Basketball fan. Her family was her life, and we will always carry her memory in our hearts. She will be dearly missed by her family and by all who she has touched. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law and one daughter and son-in-law; 15 grandchildren and spouses; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law; one sister-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Jack; three brothers, Robert, Billy and Stuart Edwards; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Marion Edwards, Dorothy and William Zweifel and Shirley Rieben; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Roy and Blanche Day, Vivian and Charles Schierholtz, Marion Cooper and Bob and Anne Day; one daughter-in-law, Nancy Day; and many extended family members...
