She was born September 11, 1949 in Sewickley, daughter of the late Robert and Sylvia (Neiman) Short. Nancy retired after 35 years of service as a nurse from Friendship Ridge, formerly the Beaver Valley Geriatric Center.
Known affectionately as "Shorty", she was an active participant and supporter of the Republican Party of Beaver County.
A woman of deep and sincere faith, she was an avid reader of her Bible. She put her faith to practice in everyday life by assisting others and providing loving care to her sister Vivian. Shorty was blessed to have visited Honduras as a medical missionary. She had an encouraging spirit and loved to make people laugh. She was a member of Wildwood Chapel, Aliquippa.
In addition to her parents, Shorty was preceded in death by a nephew, William Kubia, Jr. in 2010.
She is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Christine, Kubia, Uniontown, and Richard and Lori Buskirk, Yorba Linda, CA; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Linda and Patrick Kanczuzewski, Mission Viejo, CA; Vivian Kubia, Uniontown, and Pam Kubia, Newport Beach, CA; nieces, nephews and three great-nephews, Lisa Davis and her sons, Sean and Mason, Michael Kanczuzewski, Chad (his wife, Carrie) Yopp and their son Chase, and nieces, Mykayla, Emily, Marcella and Lauren.
Friends will be received Tuesday, March 17, 2015 from 11 a.m. until 12 noon in the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). Her funeral service will be held at noon, immediately following the visitation with Pastor Rich Liptak, officiating. Entombment will be in the Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum.
