Velma Bernice Brooke, 89 years, passed away on March 13, 2015 at her home with her family by her side.
Velma was born November 3, 1925 in Los Angeles, CA to Homer Eustes and Leanna (McCants) Oylear. She graduated from high school in Los Angeles.
Velma was a retired Registered Nurse in a Los Angeles Hospital in the ER for 40 years. She loved her work and caring for people. In 1972 Velma and Reid Brooke were united in marriage in Molalla, OR. Velma was a member of the Ava Church of Christ. She enjoyed crafts, working puzzles and sewing. She loved her family dearly and they did her.
Velma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Reid Brooke in 1976, a daughter, Charlotte Gail Hudson, one brother and one sister.
Velma is survived by her son and wife, Alfred & Linda Hudson, Ava, MO, cousin, Dave Ivey, Ava, four granchildren, Jason Hudson Annette Hudson, Dawn and Robert, six great grandchildren, three step sisters, Karen, Glenna and Patty and other relatives and friends. Cremation services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO. Memorial services will be at a later date and time in the Ava Church of Christ.
