Helen Hughes Cook, Age 89 of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at her home after a brief illness. She was born March 16, 1925 in Cherokee County, N.C. She was a graduate of Union County High School. She worked at Bell Bomber Plant in Marietta, Ga. during World War II as on of the famous "Rosie The Riveters". She also worked in a number of local factories.

She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Cherokee County, N.C. where she served as a teacher for beginners and also a Church Clerk each for a number of years. She was a member of Notla Chapter #371 Eastern Star, Blairsville where she served as Worthy Matron 1965 & 1966. She received her 50 year service pin from the Notla Chapter in 2009.

She and her husband of almost 69 years lived on a farm they purchased right after World War II, a mile below Notley Dam. They took pride in their wonderful home and farm as well as their two children, five grandchildren & two great-grandchildren.

Buford & Helen were married on May 17, 1942.
