Mahala Porch was born about 1822 to Sherrod Porch and Celia Buce. She married Samuel Gray Jr. on 19 August 1842 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama. Samuel Gray had a previous wife, Mahala McBurnett, who was Mahala Porch's first cousin-once removed. Mahala died sometime before the 1860 census was taken. She was laid to rest in the Red Ridge Methodist Church Cemetery. Her final resting place is close to Samuel Gray Jr. in a fenced-in plot with a roof on top of it. Her parents, Sherrod and Celia Buce Porch lay on the opposite side of her.
