VERONA - Velma K. West Fowler, 85, died Thursday, April 17, 2008, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a lengthy illness. She was born Dec. 9, 1922, in Lee County to Jack and Alma Keith. She was a lifelong resident of Verona and worked for many years in the cafeteria at Verona School. She retired as an instructor at Allied Enterprises in Tupelo. She was a member of Verona First Baptist Church.
Services will be at 4 p.m. today at Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.
Survivors include her husband, Carl L. Fowler Jr. of Verona; one daughter, Mary Kathryn Cagle and Lewis of Verona; three grandchildren, Suzette Patterson and Harold of Tupelo, and Jeffrey A. Cagle and Michael Chad Cagle, both of Verona; one great-grandson, Blake Cagle of Verona; two brothers, Harold Keith and Faye of Houston, Texas, and Kirk Keith and Joyce of Boswell, Okla.; her caregiver, Helen Crump of Verona; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Glen A. West; a son, Allen West; and a sister, Juanita Little.
Pallbearers will be Tony Fowler, David Fowler, Zachary Fowler, Donny Thorn, David Mitchem and Jason Mitchem.
Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. today.
