Charlene Whaley Reed, 71, of the Pine Hill community, passed away May 27, 2011, at UT Medical Center in Knoxville, due to an automobile accident. Born May 24, 1940, she was preceded in death by her grandparents: Luther and Nancy Campbell, Isaac Whaley, and Betty Wilson; niece, Dana Ballard, and nephew, Terry Martin Stonecipher.

She was a member of New Haven Baptist Church, and a long-time employee of Tennier and Denim Processing Manufacturing companies.

She is survived by her parents, Lon, Sr. and Edith Whaley of Oneida; husband, Harrison Reed of the Pine Hill community; daughter, Teresa Phillips Terry and husband, Scott, of Oneida, and Timothy Phillips and wife, Penny, of Mt. Juliet; four grandchildren, sisters: Joan Stonecipher, Shirley Terry and husband, Clifton, of Oneida, Johnnie Schenck, Linda Phillips and husband, Roy Lee, of the Paint Rock community, and Pat Trent and husband, Roy; brothers: Larry Whaley and wife, Linda, and Lon Whaley, Jr. and wife, Donna; brothers- and sisters-in-law: Estel and Kathy Reed, Charles Tony and Patricia Reed, Wilda Morgan, Mildred Faye Chambers, Velma Jean and Charles Sexton; step-daughters: Ava Wolfe, Bridgett Strojeck, Gaylia Vaughn, and Heather Reed; 11 step-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and many other relatives.

Funeral service was conducted May 31, at New Haven Baptist Church with Bro. Jim West, Bro. Tony Zachary, and Bro. Kyle Keeton officiating. Music was provided by New Haven Baptist Church Choir, John Vernon Thompson, Jr., Marcy Thomas, and David and Missy Duncan. Interment followed at Reed Cemetery.
