W.L. Carson, Company D, 6th North Carolina Infantry. Enlisted on 6/15/1861 in Alamance County. Age 20. Mortally wounded at Sharpsburg (Antietam) on 9/17/1862. Died 10/15/1862.Private, Company D, 6th North Carolina Infantry, C.S.A., died of wounds received in the Battle of Sharpsburg (Antietam) on September 17, 1862, interred in the Church yard at Elk Branch, Duffield's Depot, Jefferson County, W. Va. | The Shepherdstown Register, June 23, 1866; and Civil War Service Records (CMSR) - Confederate - North Carolina.
