Alice Ferguson was the 5th of eight children and the third daughter of William and Mary (Varian) Ferguson. Her parents were immigrants from Ireland arriving in Waukesha Country, Wisconsin in 1844 or 1845.

On Dec. 18, 1877, Alice was married to Edwin J. Cooper (b. 1852). They had two daughters and one son during their marriage. Sadly, eldest daughter Anna died at age 6 in Feb. 1885.

In late 1888, her sister Mary (b. 1857) became engaged to Peter Cooper, the brother of her husband. A Dec. 1889 wedding was planned.

Her husband Edwin, who became a cripple (leg amputation) in 1884 or 1885, suffered years of ridicule and verbal abuse from his brother Peter. She and the children did as well. On the morning of Nov. 3, 1889, at the Cooper family farm, Edwin shot and killed his brother Peter at the breakfast table. He was immediately remorseful for his actions. He was tried and sentenced (20 years imprisonment) in 1890.

Alice and Edwin Cooper divorced in 1891.

Alice was remarried on Oct. 27, 1894. Her second husband was William Wieselman (b. 1863). They had two daughters together, born in 1896 and 1899. Eldest daughter Lillian died in 1913 at age 17.

Alice Wieselman was widowed in Aug. 1938 and died five months later in January 1939 at age 85.

Survived by her daughters Laura (John) Acker and Florence (Theodore) Molkentin, four granddaughters, one grandson, and four great-grandchildren. Also survived by her youngest sister Ellen (John) Brown and many nieces and nephews. Her unmarried son Richard Lee Cooper predeceased her and was buried beside his father.
