He was a graduate of Martinsville High School with the class of 1987 and Vincennes University in 1989. Kent was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Martinsville, as well as, a devoted and active member of the Martinsville Noon Lion’s Club, where he had served as president and the chairperson of the annual golf outing.
Kent had worked his entire adult life in law enforcement, serving as dispatcher for the Indiana State Police, Martinsville City Police and most recently, the past sixteen years for the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department. In addition, he had served as a Morgan County Deputy Coroner for many years. Kent held memberships in the Indiana Sheriff’s Association, as well as, the Indiana Coroner’s Association.
He had a love for traveling, especially taking cruises and going to Cocoa Beach, Florida, with his parents and extended ‘Cocoa Beach Family’. He was an avid Martinsville High School Athletics fan, a Green Bay Packers fanatic and Jeff Gordon enthusiast. Kent also took pleasure in playing golf, cooking and spending time with his family and friends.
He will be sadly missed and always remembered by his loving family and friends including his parents, Joe & Joy Williams of Martinsville; brothers, Mike Williams (wife, Pam) of Texas, Van Williams (wife, Julie) of South Carolina, David Williams (wife, Sherry) and Chip Williams (wife, Joy) both of Martinsville; six nephews, five nieces, three great nieces and five great nephews.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday, March 15th from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Neal & Summers Funeral and Cremation Center, Martinsville and one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Monday. Rev. Mark Suter, Mayor Phil Deckard and Chaplin George Watkins will co-officiate a service celebrating Kent’s life on Monday beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 3150 Myra Lane, Martinsville, Indiana, 46151. He will be laid to rest in New South Park Cemetery, Martinsville.
The family has requested that memorial contributions be made in Kent’s memory to the Martinsville Noon Lions Club.
