At the funeral of President Lincoln, his Regiment was assigned to the head of the procession on its walk from Baltimore Depot to Independence Hall and was left as guard while the remains lay in state, with the First City Troop detailed to escort the remains from Independence Hall to the New York depot as they were borne away.
