Funeral services for Nina E. Trostad, 90, Cooperstown, ND, will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 28, in West Prairie Church, rural Binford, ND. Visitation will be 5-7p.m. Friday, May 27, in Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home, Cooperstown, ND, and one hour before services in the church. Interment will be in the West Prairie Cemetery, rural Binford, ND. She died in her home Tuesday, May 24, 2005.
Nina was born August 27, 1914, near Binford, ND, the daughter of Helmer and Alfrida (Susag) Johnson. She grew up and attended rural school in Clearfield Township near Binford. She married Roy Trostad September 22, 1940 in Binford, ND. The couple farmed near Binford, ND. She worked as a farm wife until the 1960's when she started working at various restaurants in the area as a cook. She was well known for her abilities to sew, cook and take care of her family. Roy died in February of 1988. Nina retired and moved into Cooperstown in 1990.
Nina is survived by four sons and one daughter, Dave (Rita) Trostad, Hisperia, CA; Steven (Sandy) Trostad, Disputanta, VA; Russell (Darcy) Trostad, Cooperstown, ND; Mark Trostad, St. Anthony, MN; and Jeanne (Allen) Richardson, Bismarck, ND; seventeen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; five brothers and two sisters, Johnnie (Ruth) Johnson, Comano, WA; Walter (Vi) Johnson, Port Angeles, WA; Hillard (Joyce) Johnson, Fargo, ND; Levi (Hazel) Johnson, Frazee, MN; Mencer Johnson, Palisade, MN; Eleanor Ramsey, Cooperstown, ND; and Helen (Bob) Shaw, Frazee, MN.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy; her parents; and two brothers, Lester and Arnold.
