She married Thomas Francis Kerby on Sept. 18, 1940, in Mesa, and is the mother of 10 children. Tom and Evelyn moved to Farmington in 1945 and have operated the Kerby Orchard since then.
Evelyn was a lifetime active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served faithfully in many capacities over the years. She had a special love of music, poetry, participation in sporting activities and gardening. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.
Evelyn is survived by her husband of 65 years, Thomas F. Kerby; one brother, Marvin Hathcock; three sisters, Marjorie Russell, Bonnie Dollar and Leona Huffman; and eight children, Carolyn Alger (Don), Thomas A. Kerby (June), Janet Sherman (Alan), Joanne Durkovich (Matthew), Walter Kerby, Mary Woodard (Steve), Leslie Kerby (Roxanne) and Steven Kerby. She is the loving grandmother of 36 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
Evelyn was preceded in death by two of her sons, Glenn Francis and Loren Ray Kerby.
Visitation for Evelyn will be from 5 to 8 p.m. this evening, Tuesday, May 23, at Brewer, Lee & Larkin Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 24, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 400 W. Apache St. in Farmington, with Bishop Rob Hammond conducting. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Andrew Alger, Thom Kerby, Kenneth Sherman, Jason Sherman, Treston Finch, Landon Finch, Dalon Finch and Charles Kerby.
Honorary pallbearers will be Don Alger, Matthew Durkovich, Al Dustin, Al Garcia, Marvin Hathcock, Troy Kerby, Brian Sherman, Alan Sherman, Bill Wood and Steve Woodard.
