Russell Bernard "Bud" Dixon died peacefully on Monday, November 17, 2014 at home with family at his side. Russ was born on June 13, 1921 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was the second son of Albert and Margaret Dixon. Russ and his older brother, Don, grew up and attended school there. In 1942 he enlisted in the Navy and served honorably in the South Pacific during WWII. During leave in April of 1943 he married his sweetheart, Normadine Douglas and they celebrated their 71st anniversary this year. After leaving the Navy, Russ owned and operated Dixon Appliance Service. The majority of his work years were spent in the Portland, Oregon area where he and Normadine raised three children, Russell Dixon, Jr., Devera Gately and Doug (wife Michelle) Dixon. Russ and Normadine also owned 10 acres outside of Oregon City where Dad loved to grow his peppers and other vegetables. He was an avid gardener until the end. He also took up jewelry making in retirement. Sixteen years ago, Russ and Normadine moved to Boise, ID to be closer to family. He was preceded in death by his brother and parents. He is survived by his wife, Normadine, and his three children. He also has 4 great-grandchildren.Russ is also survived by his niece and nephew: Dona (husband Ted) Gustafson and Phillip (wife Kathy) Dixon of Colorado Springs, CO.A graveside service will be held at Morris Hill Cemetery on Friday November 21 at 11:00 a.m., with a reception following at the home of Doug and Michelle Dixon. Instead of mourning his passing, we think Dad would want you to raise a glass and share a funny story with a friend. He always did appreciate a good laugh.
