Don Allen Wallace, age 67, died on March 11, 2015, at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC, after a courageous one-year battle with brain cancer.

He was the devoted husband of Anita Pearce Wallace of Germantown, TN. Born in Blytheville, AR, on September 11, 1947, he was a son of the late William Riley and Louise (Joyce) Wallace.

He was a graduate of Humes High School, Class of 1965. Following his graduation, Mr. Wallace worked for Mike Roper Masonry as a Union mason apprentice. After completing his apprenticeship, Mr. Wallace was drafted into the US Army, where he proudly served during the Vietnam War.

In 1969, Mr. Wallace married the love of his life Anita. They lived in Memphis, TN. Shortly after his tour in Vietnam, Mr. Wallace began his own construction company, D. A. Wallace Construction Company, now Horizon Construction Group. Mr. Wallace was actively involved as a devoted grandfather in his grandchildren’s lives by attending sporting events, plays, and recitals in addition to their day-to-day activities.

Besides leaving his wife, Anita, he was the loving father of Paige Wallace Bennett of Germantown, TN, and Todd Allen Wallace (Crocker) of Memphis, TN. He was the cherished grandfather of Blake Allen Bennett and Riley Wallace Bennett of Germantown, TN, and Mayers Pearce Wallace, Alex Jennings Wallace, and Mary Allen Wallace, of Memphis, TN.
Mr. Wallace is also survived by brothers, Billy Wallace of Arlington, TN, and Gary Wallace of Salem, AR, and sister, Carol Joyce Gault of Denton, TX. His brothers, Robert Wallace, Jerry Wallace, Larry Wallace, and son-in-law, David Lee Bennett, Junior, preceded Mr. Wallace in death.

Visitation will be held on Monday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Collierville First Baptist Church, 830 New Byhalia Road, Collierville, TN 38017. The Funeral Service will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Chuck Herring officiating.

Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family would like to express their true gratitude and appreciation to The Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC, for their kindness and loving care of Mr. Wallace.
