A Memorial Service for Mona Fae Carlton Smith, 88, of Emerald Bay Community in Bullard, will be held Saturday, March 10, 2018, at 3 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church at 15330 FM 2493, Tyler, 75703. Visitation will immediately follow the memorial service. A family graveside service will be held prior to the memorial at Bullard Cemetery at 2 p.m.
Mrs. Smith passed away Monday, March 5, 2018, at her residence. She was born Aug. 20, 1929, in Maysville, Oklahoma, to Shelton C. Carlton and Lula Rene Abernathy Carlton.
Mona was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Tyler. She graduated from East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma. She was a teacher at Lincoln High School in Stockton, California, from 1966 to 1993, and then moved to Tyler and was involved with various Christian Ministries including WMU, Christian Women's Job Corps, Gospel Village and others through her church.

Mona was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Alfred J. "Joe" Smith, and her grandson William J. Smith.
She is survived by three sons and their families: David and Mary, and their son Colin Smith of Emerald Bay; Don and Susan Smith of Murray, Utah, and their daughter Mercy and grandson Lucca; their son, Thomas Green III and wife Krissi, and their children Maryn, Rodda, Piper, and Penelope of Salt Lake City, Utah; Dwight and Carla Smith and their children Mileah and Micah of Snoqualmie, Washington; brothers, Hal Carlton and Mac Carlton, and many cousins in the Paul's Valley, Oklahoma, area and beyond.
