Gene had lived in the White / Carroll County, Indiana, area all his life, and was a 1952 graduate of the Wadena High School in rural Benton County, Indiana. Gene had farmed all his life. He drove a school bus for the Delphi Community School Corporation for over twelve (12) years. Gene sat on the Board of Trustees for Farm Bureau. He was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church, VFW Post #1106, both of Reynolds, Indiana. Gene was also a member of the Camden American Legion Post #413, and the F.O.E. (Fraternal Order of the Eagle) Post #2570 of Monticello, Indiana. He worked and farmed with his very trusted friend, Jim Burns in the Wolcott, Indiana, area for over thirty (30) years.
