He married Dawn Dee Showers July 9, 1994, in Ulysses. She survives.
He graduated from Moscow High School in 1990. He graduated from N.W. Kansas Technical School in Goodland with a degree in auto body repairs in 1996.
He was an auto body manager for Elliott Chevrolet in Great Bend from 1996 to 1998. He joined the Grant County Sheriff Department in April of 1998. He was officer in charge of Grant County Sheriff Reserves.
He was a member of the Church of God of Hugoton.
He was active in 4-H in Stevens County, was an exchange student to Japan with the Stevens County 4-H in 1987 and was district and state president for the Church of God Youth from 1989 to 1990.
He loved his family, was a good cook and had a passion for classic and antique cars.
He is also survived by his parents; one son, Jacob Ryan Wise, Ulysses; one daughter, Tiffany Dawn Wise, Ulysses; one brother, Rodney Lawrence Wise, Amelia, Ohio; grandparents, Ellen Barber, Ulysses, and Velmer and Christine Wise, Ulysses; father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Debbie Showers, Ulysses; and many uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Lawrence Barber.
* Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Shelton Memorial Christian Church in Ulysses with Minister Joe Downs presiding.
Burial will be at Ulysses Cemetery.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Grant County Funeral Home in Ulysses.
