On June 3, 1925, an angel came down and called to a brighter and happier world Hershal Stringer. He was carried to a hospital, his suffering was intense, he bore it as all Christians do. Words which passed from his lips during his sickness proved that he was a sincere child of God.
He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. O. M. Stringer. He was loved by all who knew him, and his going has been sad, not only for the loved ones, but for his friends. We do not understand why, but for some good purpose God called him home. He was 25 years old and we can't understand why God called him home, so early, but God doeth all things well. He was a member of Shivers Presbyterian church and was laid to rest there in the cemetery. The esteem in which he was held and sympathy for the family was manifest by the vast throng of people who assembled to pay the last tribute of respect at his burial.
He leaves a wife, 1 child, father and mother, 6 brothers and 3 sisters and a host of relatives and friends to mourn his loss.
O it seems hard to us all and more than his loved, ones could hardly bear, but he is now with the Saint in Glory land at Jesus' blessed feet and our loss is Heaven gain. He was ready to go and told them he was going home.
I hope all will be ready to meet him in Heaven. For a little while we first parted and we will try to think it best, although brokenhearted we'll go to God for rest and when our life is ended we'll greet Thee on high, where broken hearts are mended and we'll never have to say goodbye. So dear loved ones weep not, he's gone to live with God, and we must meet him there. His labor on earth is done, and his greatest work has just begun.
Blessed be the name of the Lord. Thy will be done and not ours. His influence shall live in memory of him.
Safe in the arms of Jesus,
Safe on his gentle breast,
There by his love overshadowed,
Sweetly his soul shall rest.
I heard a voice from Heaven saying unto me, write: "Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth; yea saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors and their works do follow
