He was born Nov. 27, 1915, in Fruitland, Tenn. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on Nov. 13, 1937, as an apprentice seaman.
On Oct. 12, 1943, in Washington, D.C., he married the former Alice Dude. During his 20 years of military service, he worked as chief fire control technician and qualified as an instructor.
He retired from the Navy on Sept. 30, 1957. He then worked as a electrical technician in San Diego, Calif. In 1972, he moved to Grants Pass from San Diego.
He is survived by his wife, Alice.
