Son of the late George T. Garner and Nora K. Bolden, he was the widow of Inez Thurmond Garner (married 61 years). Additionally, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Howell S. Garner. He was veteran of the United States Navy (WWII). He worked for Chicopee Manufacturing for 40 years. He was survived by his daughters, Cynthia Garner Millwood and Regina Garner Blackwell; six grandchildren; a brother; and an extended family of relatives and friends. His funeral was held on March 12, 2015, at Chicopee Baptist Church, with J.L. Yopp, Jr., and Mike Taylor officiating. Cause of death: leukema.
