DIED OF APOPLEXY
SUDDEN DECEASE OF MR. CHARLES M. ALFORD, A WELL-KNOWN L. AND N. CONDUCTOR

Mr. Charles M. Alford, a conductor on the Louisville and Nashville railroad, dropped dead about 8 o'clock yesterday morning [February 4] at the residence of his parents, No. 1,129 West Broadway, with whom he lived.

After eating his breakfast he lit a pipe and walked out into the rear yard. In about five minutes his brother, Mr. L.S. Alford, went into the yard and was startled by finding Mr. Alford lying on his back, gasping and dying. Before Dr. Simpson, who lives across the street, could reach the spot Mr. Alford was dead.

Coroner Miller was notified and made a post mortem examination, and it was found that Mr. Alford died of apoplexy.

Mr. Alford was thirty years of age and unmarried. He was a man of excellent habits and reputation….

The funeral will take place at 3 o’clock this afternoon from his late residence.
