She was born in Harrison Twp., Preble County, Indiana; the daughter of John and Charlotte (Butler) Porter.

She was united in marriage to Art Robert Bierly on February 19, 1905, in Eaton, Preble County, Ohio. To this union, three known children were born: Unknown Male Bierly, Mildred C. Bierly, and Gale Milton Bierly.

She died at Good Samaritan Hospital, Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio from complications resulting from a nervous breakdown; interned on August 12, 1936.

Undated/Unsourced Obit for Ethel Bierly:
Mrs. Ethel Bierly, 50, of Lewisburg, died at a Dayton hospital where she had been receiving treatment for some time. Mrs. Bierly suffered a nervous collapse last fall, from which she never recovered. Funeral services were held this Wednesday afternoon from the Lewisburg U.B. church and interment was made in Roselawn cemetery. She is survived by one son, Gale, who resides about three miles west of Lewisburg. Her husband, well known farmer of that community died in July 1935.
