Leona L. Kempton, 81, of Somers, wife of the late Leland Kempton, Jr., entered into eternal peace with her family by her side, Saturday March 7, 2015 at Johnson Memorial Medical Center in Stafford. Born in Norwich, Leona was a daughter of the late Maurill and Laura (Beaudry) Lassonde. She had been a resident of the Enfield community since 1959 and was a communicant of Holy Family Church. She was employed for the Travelers Insurance Co. for 18 years before retiring. Leona was a giving person who volunteered for Home & Community Hospice for several years. She is survived by a son Leland L. Kempton III and his wife Elizabeth of Stafford Springs; two daughters, Lauren Rhodes and her husband Russell of Springfield, MA, Lisa Demers and her husband Dennis of Stafford Springs; six grandchildren, Lucinda Hallowell and her husband Michael, Leland L. Kempton IV, Dustin Rhodes and his wife Heather, Joshua Rhodes, and Dylan and Kailey Demers; six great grandchildren, T.J., Phylamina, Ariana, Stephanie, Hayden, Zoe, and Coraline; a loving brother, Roland Lassonde of Deltona, FL; and a nephew, Keith Lassonde and his wife Kathy. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, March 10th from 4-8 p.m. at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield. Family and friends will gather Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. at Leete-Stevens for a procession to Holy Family Church for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Committal will follow at Hazardville Cemetery.
