Walter Sircy Dies At 70 Years Of Age
Walter Sircy, aged 70 years, a farmer of the Rock Bridge section of Sumner County, and a former citizen of the Mace's Hill section died at a Nashville hospital at one o'clock Saturday afternoon not long after he had gone to the hospital. He had been a sufferer for many months from hardening of the arteries and poor circulation. Death was directly due to a blood clot in one leg. He is survived by his wife, the former Miss Belle Whittemore; two sons, Oscar Sircy, of Springfield; and Goldman Sircy, of Portland; two daughters, Mrs. Willie Stinson and Mrs. Billie Spears both of Rock Bridge; 21 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Effie Craighead, of Hartsville; five half-brothers, Stanton Sircy, of Henderson , Ky.; Carsey Sircy, of R. 2, West Nashville; Wesley Sircy, of R. 2, Gallatin, Henry Sircy, of Russell Hill, this county; and Luke Sircy of Castalian Springs; and a half-sister, Mrs. Virgie Shoulders, of R. 4, Gallatin

The remains were laid to rest about two thirty o'clock Monday afternoon in the Fairfield Cemetery, a few miles east of Portland, following funeral services conducted by Elder Calvin Gregory. The deceased was a professed Christian, although he was not identified with any church. He was a hard-working, honest and upright citizen, the son of Bevley and Jennie Ramsey Sircy, and was born on Fun's Branch in Jackson Co., Tennessee. He lived for a number of years on Toetown Branch and as the editor's neighbor in the years gone by.
