Violet was a graduate of Chatham High School and Albany Hospital School of Nursing. She was the assistant director of nursing services at Greene County Hospital in Catskill. Subsequently, Mrs. Blakewas in charge of the occupational therapy department at the former Glenridge Hospital. Violet was a member of the First Reformed Church of Schenectady and the Caldwell Presbyterian Church at Lake George. She was president of the Women's League at the First Reformed Church as well as president of the board of directors of the Children's Home of Schenectady. She was a member of the Mohawk Golf Club and the Glens Falls Country Club. Survivors include her husband, Dr. James M. Blake, whom she married Nov. 9, 1935; a daughter and four grandchildren.
