John S. Maddox was the son of Michael and Celia Owsley Maddox. He married Lucetta Trout 3/5/1850, daughter of Daniel T. and Anna Bradley Moreland Trout. He was a farmer and a member of Mt. Byrd Christian Church. His mother and sister lived with them until their deaths.

Dropped Dead.
John Maddox, a prominent resident of Trimble county, living two and a half miles south of Milton, dropped dead of heart disease of which he was a sufferer, at 11 o'clock this moring while superintending the cutting of some timber on his farm.
He was 64 years of age and leaves a wife and will be buried tomorrow at 2 o'clock in the Moffett Cemetery.
