William Joseph Mackin was born on April 30, 1867, in Lebanon, Marion, Kentucky, to Michael C "Mike" Mackin and Adeline Walker Mercer. He had several siblings, including Felix Mackin, John Samuel Mackin, and Augustine DeFraine "Dee" Mackin Sr. In 1884, when William was 17 years old, his father, Michael C "Mike" Mackin, passed away.


William married Louise Magdalene "Lula" Anderson, and they had several children: Bernard Francis Mackin (born July 17, 1895), Mary Margaret Mackin (born April 25, 1898), Pauline Rosary Mackin (born September 28, 1901), Helen Irene Mackin (born August 12, 1904), Joseph Anderson Mackin (born June 27, 1907), Edwin Mackin (born around 1910), Louis Gregory Mackin (born February 23, 1913), and Anne Dorothy Mackin (born October 5, 1915).


On March 6, 1922, at the age of 54, William Joseph Mackin passed away in Jefferson County, Kentucky, due to heart trouble. He was survived by his wife, Louise Magdalene "Lula" Anderson, and their eight children. His death was reported in THE LEBANON ENTERPRISE on Friday, March 10, 1922. Funeral services were held at St. Louis Church in Louisville, and he was laid to rest at St. Louis Cemetery in Louisville.


William's life was marked by his work as a stone mason, first in Lebanon, where he resided for many

years, and later in Louisville, where he moved with his family about ten years before his passing.

W. J. Mackin died at his home in Louisville Monday afternoon at 4 o'clock. Death was due to heart trouble and followed an illness of only about a week.


Mr. Mackin formerly lived in Lebanon where he was for man years a stone mason. He moved with his family to Louisville about ten years ago and since then had made that city his home. He was born in this county 55 years ago and was a son of the late M. C. Mackin and Adaline Mackin. He is survived by his wife who was Miss Lula Anderson of the Bradfordsville section of the count and eight children, four daughters and four sons. The are Mrs. O. J. Nichalson, and Misses Pauline, Helen, and Dorothy Mackin and Bernard, Joseph, Louis, and Edward Mackin all of Louisville.


Two brothers, John Mackin, of Wilmore and Defraine Mackin of Nelson county, two sisters , Mrs. Lizzie Woods, of Louisville, and Mrs. Steve Woods of this city also survive.


Funeral services were held at St. Louis Church in Louisville Wednesday morning and the interment was in St. Louis Cemetery in Louisville.
